Set within a conservation area, this innovative primary school project created a new ‘state-of-the-art’ multi-purpose event hall for the benefit of the children, staff, and wider community.

Ravenslade were commissioned to provide full Project Management services for the facility at Broadclyst Community Primary School for the Cornerstone Academy Trust.

The hall served as an event venue and included dining and sports facilities, featuring a climbing wall and a ground-breaking IT and AV installation to host events in a fully comfort-cooled environment. The high-quality interior was further enhanced by a handsome engineered oak floor and community coffee shop for use by staff, parents and visitors.

The design was sensitively detailed to meet strict planning requirements being adjacent to a Grade 2 listed building and set within a conservation area. Features included a tern-coated steel roof, external walls with feature larch timber cladding, and hand-made facing brickwork that complemented the stonework of the existing buildings.

The project was nominated for the Michelmores Education Project of the Year award.
