Plymstock Fire Station

Plymstock fire station is a new two-appliance bay station for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. The new facility replaces outdated and life expired buildings and will continue to serve Plymstock and the surrounding areas including the growing community at Sherford and Saltram Meadow

Ravenslade are pleased to have won the commission for full Project Management and Quantity Surveying services during the construction and handover periods. Ravenslade are working with the retained design team AHR and Aecom and the appointed Principal Contractor Devon Contractors.

The new fire station responds to the operational needs of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, whilst providing a civic presence in the local community and wider region. As well as the two-appliance bays, the new-build fire station also includes operational and support areas for staff, including equipment storage and servicing areas, a kitchen and mess area, an inclusive lecture room, training facilities and office space.

A focus upon a reduced energy demand, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy creates a highly sustainable and functional build. Sustainable strategies incorporated include the use of a roof-mounted solar PV array, enhanced thermal performance and a largely naturally ventilated building.

To complement Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service’s public engagement-focused approach, glazing at the back of the building opens-up the building to the community.

This project was completed in Summer 2022.
